HOW TO BRAND A SPACE

The BPFI asked Magma Design to brand several conference events that they run annually. We have responsibility to make a one-event identity from the theme of the conference, while keeping it within the brand guidelines of the Federation. We then theme the event itself, by designing large-scale props for the location, and making brochures and other supplemental printed collateral.

MARKETING COLLATERAL

The event marketing could range from a set of online banner ads, to a standalone website designed to promote the event and keep ticket buyers informed.

PROGRAMME DESIGN

THE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

We then design a programme for ticket purchasers with information about each speaker, and the schedule of events. The programme also gives us an opportunity to advertise for the sponsors. We also make a printed brochure to hand ot to attendees on the day.

BACKDROP & STAGING

SETTING THE STAGE FOR THE MAIN EVENT - THE CELEBRITY SPEAKERS

The main stage is the focus of the event. We think about how to stage for the flow of speakers onto and off the podium. The backdrop needs a real presence in the room, we work with lighting and sound designers to take the volume and shape of the room into account. The staging also needs to accommodate a screen for a graphic presentation behind the speaker. Done right, the backdrop has a powerful presence.

BRAND REINFORCEMENT

There are other ways to add value to the event - a lunch menu feels much more high-end if it’s printed on quality paper and well designed. We might supply a branded notepad and pen to attendees, or name tags to help networking, which can be a priority.

THE GOAL

TO CREATE A MEMORABLE SPACE THAT REINFORCES THE MESSAGE OF THE EVENT THEME

The design of the conference is an ambassador for the brand, and represents it not just on the day, but in the online space as attendees tweet and post about the event in real time and for days afterwards.
